Janie Alice Freeman

Janie Alice Freeman, 92, of Freeman Dr., Biscoe, died Wednesday, September 21, 2016 at FirstHealth Hospice House in Pinehurst. Funeral Service will be 11:00 AM Saturday, September 24, 2016 at Macedonia Presbyterian Church, with Rev. Matthew Baker officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Born May 16, 1924 in Montgomery County, she was the daughter of Harvey Melton and Clara Maie Cagle Ard. She was a graduate of Candor High School and was preceded in death by her husband, James Clyde Freeman. She is survived by 2 sons, James Clyde Freeman, Jr. of Biscoe and David Wayne Freeman and wife Janet of Seagrove; 4 daughters, Winnie Freeman Steed and husband Joedy of Candor, Mary Ann Hogan and husband Harold of Candor, Shirley McKenzie of Jackson Springs, and Brenda Sue Dunn and husband Garland of Star; sister, Stella Stirewalt of Concord; 12 Grandchildren; 7 Great-grandchildren. The family will receive friends from 9:30 – 11AM Saturday prior to the service at the church and other times at the home of Winnie and Joedy Steed in Candor. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Macedonia Presbyterian Church, PO Box 340, Candor NC 27229 or to the charity of the donor’s choice. Briggs-Candor Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
