James Russell

James Andrew Russell, 89, of Johnson Farm Rd. Denton passed away on Thursday, Dec. 20, 2018 at his residence.  A funeral service will held 2:00 pm Sunday, Dec. 23 at Gravel Hill Baptist Church with Rev. Kenneth Reeves officiating. Interment with Military Honors will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends on Saturday from 6:00 to 8:00 pm at Briggs Funeral Home in Denton. Mr. Russell was born October 29, 1929 in Randolph County to Eli Matin Russell and Mary Andrew Russell. He was veteran of the United States Army and a member of Gravel Hill Baptist Church. James worked in saw milling and farming. He was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Linzey McDowell Russell; son, Leslie James Russell; brothers, Charles, Baxter, and Herman Russell; and sisters, Mary and Dorothy.
