Mr. James Clyde (Jay) McMahan, age 73 of Lou Cranford Road, Denton, NC beloved husband, father & grandfather went home to be with “Our Lord” early Sunday, July 1 at his residence. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM Wednesday, July 4 at New Hope United Methodist Church conducted by Pastor Carl Sutton and Rev. Joe Conley. Burial will be in the New Hope United Methodist Church Cemetery. \ The family will see friends from 6:00 to 8:00 PM Tuesday, July 3 at Briggs Funeral Home in Denton and other times at the residence. Mr. McMahan was born April 15, 1939 in Macon County to Raleigh Sanders McMahan and Ella Grant McMahan. He was a master craftsman working in the Furniture Industry. He was preceded in death by sisters, Lelia Bowers, Ruth Grant, Frankie Wilson, Murt Seawell and Doris McMahan. Jay lived his life before his family as an example of what he would have them to be. While Jay loved motorcycles and playing pool, his family was the light and joy of his life. He is survived by his wife, Linda Samuels McMahan of the home, daughters, Sherri M Higgins and husband Rickey of Archdale, Kristal McMahan Becker of Denton and son-in-law Michael Becker of Virginia; godson, David Michael Lucas of Archdale; brothers, R. S. (Shorty) McMahan and wife Linda of Jamestown and Jerry McMahan and wife Becky of High Point; sisters, Edna Sue M. Bame of Sophia and Judy M Hazelwood and husband Donald of Trinity; grandchildren Jessica Higgins, Brooke Yarborough, Taylor Higgins and Courtney Yarborough; great grandchildren Payton Phipps, Connor Queen and Kylenn Collins.
