James Elwood "Woody" Kellis

James Elwood “Woody” Kellis, 80, of Candor Troy Rd., Candor, died Wednesday, August 2, 2023 at FirstHealth Hospice and Palliative Care in Pinehurst.  Graveside Service will be 2:00 PM Friday, August 3, 2023 at Candor Cemetery, with Rev. Wayne Luck officiating.

Born in Montgomery County on April 1, 1943, he was the son of Richard and Olive Mae Heath Kellis.  He was a jailer, working at the Montgomery County Courthouse and later worked as an auctioneer.  He was preceded in death by a brother, Dale Kellis.

Woody is survived by his daughter, Tammy Lynn Kellis of Candor; sister, Teresa Kellis Reynolds (Jerry) of Biscoe; 2 Grandchildren, Casey Grant and Michael Davis; 2 Great-grandchildren, Jacy and River Davis; 2 nephews, Aubin and Bryan Reynolds.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Alzheimer's Association Eastern North Carolina Chapter, 5171 Glenwood Ave Suite 101, Raleigh, NC 27612 or to the American Heart Association, 1113 44th Avenue North, Suite 200, Myrtle Beach SC  29577.
