Mr. James Ray Bowen, age 69 of Frank Road, Denton died Saturday, June 27 at Wake Forest University Baptist Medical Center in Winston-Salem. Funeral service for Mr. Bowen will be at 12:30 pm Wednesday, July 1 at Briggs Funeral Home Memorial Chapel with Rev. Vern Peterson officiating. Burial will follow at 2:00 pm in Salisbury National Cemetery with Military Honors. Mr. Bowen was born July 6, 1939 in Delbarton, West Virginia to Wade and Susie Brown Bowen. He served in the U. S. Marine Corps and the U. S. Air Force. He was a member of the Marine Corps League in Lexington. He had worked at Burlington Industries. Mr. Bowen is survived by his significant partner, Viller Massey of the home, daughter, Lora Maree of York, South Carolina, step-sons, Jimmy Massey, Jackie Massey and Jerry Massey of Rock Hill, South Carolina and Johnnie Massey of Shallotte, step-daughters, June Adkins of Denton,Jennifer Hardy of Lexington and Julia Sutliff of Troutville, Virginia, fourteen grandchildren and one great grandchild. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 pm Tuesday at Briggs Funeral Home in Denton.
