Mr. J. S. (Jaybird) Loflin, Jr. age 77 of Jim Elliott Road, Denton, NC died Saturday, Sept. 29 at Forsyth Regional Hospital. A Funeral service will be held at 3:00 PM Wednesday, Oct. 3 at Lineberry United Methodist Church conducted by Rev. Steve McLean and Rev. Chris Smith. Burial with Masonic Graveside Rites will follow in the Church Cemetery. Mr. Loflin was born May 28, 1930 in Davidson County to Justice Snow Loflin, Sr. and Alice Elliott Loflin. He was a farmer and co/owner and operator of L & J Farms. He was a member of Lineberry United Methodist Church where he served as Church Treasurer, the longest serving treasurer in church history. He was an army veteran of the Korean Conflict. He was a member and past Master of Denton Lodge # 404 AF & AM; a member and past Patron of the Denton Chapter # 216 Order of the Eastern Star and was a member of the Salisbury York Rite. He is survived by his wife, Selma Beck Loflin of the Home, a son Timothy J. (Tim) Loflin of Denton, brother, Brown Loflin and wife Ruby of Denton, half brother Dan Loflin and wife Esther of Jamestown, half sister Vicki Brown and husband Henry of Hilton Head, SC, a number of Nieces and Nephews and his farm business partner Charles Johnson and wife Nancy of Denton. The family will see friends from 6:00 to 8:00 PM Tuesday at Briggs Funeral Home in Denton and other times at the residence on Jim Elliott Road.
