J. Roy Arnold age 84 of Denton, died Saturday, Jan. 28 at Lexington Memorial Hospital. Mr. Arnold was born November 6, 1921 in Davidson County to Thomas Jefferson Arnold and Lula Ann Crouse Arnold. He graduated valedictorian of the 1940 Denton High School graduating class. He was a retired Dairy Farmer. He served 6 years on the National Brown Swiss Board of Directors. He was also a member of the Brown Swiss Cattle Breeders Association. He was a member of the Grange and a former member of the A S C S Board. He was a charter member of the New Jerusalem Lutheran Church. Music was an important part of his life. He believed in playing music to the Glory of God. He had helped provide music for the Annual Southeast Thrashers Reunion for the past several years. Square dances were an enjoyable pasttime. He is survived by his wife, Glee Nance Arnold of the home a daughter Jill Arnold Conrad and husband Barry of Denton and a granddaughter Nina Conrad of Denton A funeral service will be held at 3:00 PM Tuesday, January 31 at New Jerusalem Lutheran Church conducted by Rev. Maria Copeland. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will see friends from 6:00 to 8:00 PM Monday at Briggs Funeral Home in Denton.
