Iva Holt Spivey

Mrs. Iva Holt Spivey, age 81 of Denton died Friday, June 1, 2007 at Mountain Vista Health Park. Funeral services will be held at 4:00 PM Sunday, June 3 at Briggs Funeral Home Memorial Chapel with Rev. Ed Carter and Rev. Jack Luther officiating. Burial will follow at Macedonia United Methodist Church Cemetery. Mrs. Spivey was born January 7, 1926 in Montgomery County the daughter of Ralph McCally Holt and Letha Harris Holt. She worked at Bisher Hosiery Mill as a boarder. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Spivey was preceded in death by two brothers Marvin Holt and Beecher Holt and one sister Bernice Luther. Survivors include her husband Donald “Catfish” Spivey of the home; two daughters Maria Spivey Swaney and her husband Phillip of Thomasville and Bonnie Spivey Thompson and her husband Mark of Denton; one brother Curtis Holt of Thomasville; one sister Doris Holt Cook of Denton; six grandchildren Matthew Swaney, Emily Thompson, Anna Swaney, Lauren Thompson, Jacob Swaney, Jeremy Swaney and one great grandson Andrew Michael. The family will receive friends from 2:00 to 4:00 PM Sunday at Briggs Funeral Home. Memorials may be sent to The Life Center of Davidson County 601 W. Center Street Lexington, NC 27292.
