Iris Johnson Bovender

High Point Mrs. Iris Johnson Bovender, age 71, died Tuesday, November 7, 2006 at the Pennybyrn at Maryfield Nursing Home in High Point. Funeral Service will be 2:00 PM Thursday, November 8, 2006 at the Sardis United Methodist Church, with Revs. Clarence Garner and Glenn Hancock officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. A native of Montgomery County, Mrs. Bovender was born February 22, 1935, the daughter of Marvin Eli and Elizabeth Kellis Johnson. She was a member of the Blair Road UMC and was the owner/operator of the Amity Gardens Beauty Shop in Charlotte, and later served as a personnel manager with KMart. She is survived by her husband, Richard Bovender of High Point; 1 Daughter, Delane Hooper and her husband John of Jamestown; 2 sisters, Juanita McCallum and her husband Tex of Candor, and Janet Hogan and her husband Philip of Norman; 2 brothers, Elwood Johnson and his wife Pat of Semmes AL and Garrett Johnson and his wife Barbara of Candor; 2 Grandchildren, Austin and Lauren Hooper. The family will receive friends from 1 to 2 PM prior to the service Thursday in the fellowship hall at Sardis UMC.
