Hubert Ree Cook

Mr. Hubert Ree Cook, age 87, of Alleghany Church Rd., Denton died Saturday, March 10 at his home. Funeral service for Mr. Cook will be 2:00 pm Wednesday, March 14 at Alleghany United Methodist Church with Rev. Kelly Creekmur officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 pm Tuesday at Briggs Funeral Home in Denton and other times at the residence on Alleghany Church Road. Mr. Cook was born May 29, 1924 in Davidson County to William Robert and Jennie Lee Coggin Cook. He served in the Merchant Marines and was an employee of Bisher Hosiery in Denton for over 40 years. He was a lifetime member of Alleghany United Methodist Church where he served as Sunday school superintendent and a Sunday school teacher. He was preceded in death by two sisters, Hallie Fine and Violet Clark. Mr. Cook is survived by his wife, Doris Holt Cook of the home, one son, Larry Cook of Denton, two daughters, Sharon Metts of Charlotte and Letha Thompson of Albemarle, five grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. He is also survived by two sisters, Leora Fine of Denton and Sybil Berry of Charlotte. . Memorials may be sent to Hospice of Randolph County, P. O.
