Hoyle (Pete) Lee Yow, Jr., age 82, of Troy, NC passed away at his residence on Sunday, July 13, 2025, after a lengthy illness.
Born in Mecklenburg County on September 29, 1942, the son of Hoyle L. Yow, Sr. and Eloise Smith Ward. He was preceded in death by a sister, Martha Parker.
Pete spent many years in law enforcement working with Brunswick County Sheriff’s Department, Denton Police Department, and in Stanly County. In late years he owned and operated Brian’s Appliance in Troy with his wife and son.
He learned to play bass guitar in his teens and discovered his lifelong love of music. He enjoyed playing with the local boys and had a one-man band. He performed at every opportunity.
Leaving behind to cherish his memory is his wife of 32 years, Letha W. Yow; his son, Brian Yow, daughter, Jennifer Orlando and her husband Joe of Neptune Beach, FL; a stepdaughter, Kimberly Francisco; 2 grandchildren, Marissa Francisco and Trevor Francisco; and a sister, Sandra Dycus; and 2 brothers, Gary Yow and Mac Yow; and several nieces and nephews.
A celebration of life service will be held on Thursday, July 17 at 11:00 AM at Liberty Fellowship Church with Rev. Jamie Draughn officiating. The family will greet friends following the service and at other times at the residence.
In lieu of flowers memorials can be made to Hospice in Troy, NC 27371.
