Howard Carrick

Mr. Howard Carrick, age 76 of Roehm Landing, Denton, NC died Thursday, January 24 at Hinkle Hospice House. A funeral service will be held at 2:00 PM Sunday, January 27 at Jersey Baptist Church conducted by Rev..Dr. Michael Collier. Interment will be at Mountain View Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will see friends from 5:00 to 7:00 PM Saturday at Briggs Funeral Home in Denton and other times at the residence. Mr. Carrick was born January 13, 1937 in Davidson County to H. Clay Carrick and Lena Tysinger Carrick. He graduated Valedictorian of the 1955 Class of Southmont High School. He retired in 1995 from Lexington Telephone Company after over 29 years service. He was a former member of Mountain View Baptist and a current member of Jersey Baptist Church and a was member of the Men’s Sunday School Class, and had been in the Senior Choir. He was an avid bass fisherman and outdoorsman. His motto was “ take only photos and leave only footprints”.He loved taking care of home and family and had a great ability to “fix anything”. He encouraged his family to get an education and loved Tar Heel sports. He is survived by his wife, Connie Jenkins Carrick of the home; a daughter Christina Carrick Sheffer and husband Tedd of Sacramento, Ca; son Michael Allen Carrick and fiancée Dr. Melanie Lawlor of Davidson; sisters Katy C. Palmer of Lexington and Ann Surratt of Wilmington; brothers, Mallory Carrick and wife Ruby and Max Carrick and wife Libby all of Lexington.
