Hosea Gallimore

August 26, 1931 — June 6, 2021

Hosea Wood Gallimore, 89, passed away to a place without pain or worry on June 6, 2021. He was born in Thomasville, NC to Seaph and Alice (Snider) Gallimore on August 26, 1931. Hosea was the sixth of seven children. He graduated from Denton High School in 1950 and enjoyed attending numerous class reunions and catching up with old friends, anytime anywhere. His career later in life was spent working in the local furniture industry at Council Craftsman Furniture and Lexington Furniture before he retired in 1996. During retirement, he enjoyed volunteering with Davidson County Meals on Wheels, and the Denton Lions Club with his girlfriend, Marie Myers. It was with Marie he seemed to enjoy life the most, with her encouragement they had many adventures together. He looked forward to annual Lions Club fishing trip with her and get togethers with her family. Hosea was a kind soul who never seemed to meet a stranger. No matter where he was, he could make a connection to an individual or a family he knew upon meeting a new person. Hosea is survived by his daughter Lorie Gemas and husband Mark, three granddaughters and two great grandchildren, his brother Doak and sister in law Nancy, Hosea is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by his parents, and his sibling, Aster, Rex, Oleene, James, and Boyd. The family would like to thank Mountain Vista Health Park staff for the loving care they have provided to Hosea for almost three years, and Randolph County Hospice for their compassion towards him and his family this past week. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to Davidson County Meals on Wheels 913 Greensboro Street, Lexington, NC 27292 or Denton Lions Club PO Box 277, Denton, NC 27239 both organizations close to Hosea’s heart. A funeral service will be held on Friday, June 11 at Briggs Funeral Home Memorial Chapel. Burial will follow at Tom’s Creek Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 10:00 to 11:00 am Friday prior to the service. The family will be at his brother Doak’s house in Thomasville.
