Hilda Johnson Cranford, 86, of Forest Park Dr., Denton died Wednesday Aug. 3 at High Point Regional Hospital. Funeral services will be held 11:00 AM Saturday, August 6, 2011 at Central United Methodist Church conducted by Rev. Benny Clodfelter. Interment will follow in the Denton Town Cemetery. The family will see friends from 6:00 to 8:00 PM Friday at Briggs Funeral Home in Denton. Mrs. Cranford was born September 24, 1924 in Davidson County to H. Edwin Johnson and Gertrude Hill Johnson. She was a member of Central United Methodist Church, and United Methodist Women’s Circle #1. She and her husband were the Leaders of the Compassionate Friends Lexington Chapter, Volunteered with Meals on Wheels, and the Adopt a Highway Program. She was retired from Burlington Industries and was preceded in death by her son Rodney Cranford on Dec. 16, 1985 and by her brother Bill Johnson. Survivors include, husband; Mack Cranford of the home, daughter; Sharon Beal and husband Curtis of Charlotte, sister; Jerrie Lomax of Denton, grandchildren (3) Mereth Beal Alexander and husband Curtis , Amanda Kanoy Brookbank and husband David, and Heath Cranford and wife Lisa, great-grandchildren; John and Lily Alexander, Maddie Grace and Leeza Brookbank.
