Ms. Helen Hammond Spillman, 89, formerly of Oak Grove Church Rd., Asheboro passed away on Tuesday, Feb. 6, 2018 at Clapp’s Convalescent Nursing Home in Asheboro. A memorial service will be held 2:00 pm Sunday, Feb. 11 at Oak Grove United Methodist Church with Rev. Bobby Lorton and Rev. Jack Luther presiding. The family will receive friends following the service in the community building. Ms. Spillman was born September 25, 1928 in Randolph County to Carl Hammond and Jennie Cooper Hammond. She was a graduate of Farmer High School, a member of Oak Grove United Methodist Church and a homemaker. Ms. Spillman was preceded in death by her husband, Carlton F. Spillman; brother, Harvey Hammond; and sister, Clara Shaver. Surviving are son, Randy Spillman and wife Ginger of Asheboro; daughter, Ann Spillman of Asheboro; brother, Harold Hammond of Randleman; sister, Irene Allen of Asheboro; and grandson, Andy Spillman. The family would like to thank Ms. Spillman’s caregiver Sharon for the wonderful care given to her.
