Helen Barker Jarrell, 77 of Meadowdale Drive Denton died Thursday, Nov. 30, 2006 at Mountain Vista Health Park in Denton. Funeral Services will be held 4:00 PM Sunday, Dec. 3, 2006 at Pine Hill United Methodist Church conducted by Rev. Steve McLain, Rev. Charles Moses, and Rev. Randy Lucas, burial will follow in the church cemetery. Mrs. Jarrell was born August 6, 1929 in Stokes County to Charlie Winburg Barker and Bessie Page Barker. She had worked at Bisher Hosiery Mill and was a member of Pine Hill United Methodist Church. She was crowned Mountain Vista Queen in November. Mrs. Jarrell was preceded in death by her husband Thomas Earl Jarrell on April 20, 1993, by sisters, Geneva Lanning, Dixie Thompson and Kate Christopher and brother, Roy Franklin Barker. Survivors include daughters, Brenda Schultz and Joyce Jernigan, both of Denton, brother Charles Barker of Thomasville, sisters Dorothy Overcash, Virginia Passmore and Barbara Weaver, all of Lexington and Nancy Caughron of Thomasville, grandson Michael Jernigan. The family will see friends Saturday from 6:00 to 8:00 PM at Briggs Funeral Home in Denton and other times at the home on Meadowdale Drive, Denton.
