Hazel Yates

Ms. Hazel Lea Garner Yates age 61 of St. Albans Lane, Lexington passed away Tuesday, June 02, 2015 at Hinkle Hospice House. A funeral service will be held 2:00 PM Friday at Briggs Funeral Home Memorial Chapel conducted by Rev. Max Shoaf. Interment will follow at Mountain View Memorial Gardens. Ms. Yates was born November 28, 1953 in Davidson County to James Fred Garner and Pearl Hancock Garner. She attended Psalms 91 church. In addition to her parents Hazel was preceded in death by brothers, Willie Lester Garner and Bobby Garner; sisters, Jacqueline Tysinger, Barbara Wylie, Clara Honeycutt, and Mary Garner. Surviving are, son, Scottie Yates and wife Michelle of Denton; grandchildren, Eli, Lily, and Emily Yates; companion, Joe “Bud” West of Lexington; sister, Wilma Gammons and husband Fred of Lexington; and numerous nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends on Thursday from 6:00 to 8:00 PM at Briggs Funeral Home in Denton.
