Hazel Smith

Hazel Cagle Smith, 83, of 100 E. 4th St., Denton died Monday, October 4 at Thomasville Medical Center. Funeral services will be held 2:00 PM Thursday, October 7, at Briggs Funeral Home Memorial Chapel conducted by Rev. Charles Moses and Rev. Claudie Harrison. Interment will follow at Mountain View Memorial Gardens. Mrs. Smith was born August 18, 1927 in Montgomery County to Raleigh Cagle and Donnie Poole Cagle. She was retired from Burlington Industries Denton Plant after 16 years and later she enjoyed caring for and staying with the elderly. She was preceded in death by her husband, Garland D. Smith who died on Feb. 8, 1988. Survivors include sons, Hershel (Greg) Smith, Mark Smith, and Todd Smith all of Denton, daughter, Judy Vega of Libertyville, IL. and grandchildren, Jessica Smith, Josh Smith, Diego Vega, Daniel Vega, Allison Smith, and Anna Smith. The family will see friends Thursday from 12:30 to 1:30 PM prior to the service at Briggs Funeral Home in Denton and other times at the residence on 4th St. or Todd Smith’s residence 495 Piedmont School Rd., Denton.
