Hazel Walker Garner

Hazel Iwana Walker Garner, 92, a resident of Mountain Vista Health Park and formerly of Old Camp Rd., Denton, NC passed away on Tuesday, August 25, 2026, at Atrium Health Lexington Medical Center. Born on October 10, 1933, in Guilford County, NC she was the daughter of Isaac Daniel Walker and Alice Garner Walker.

A funeral service will be held at 3:00 PM on Friday, August 28, 2026 at Briggs Funeral Home Memorial Chapel with Rev. Scott Davis and Rev. Sandy Young  officiating. Interment will follow at Tom's Creek Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 2:00 until 3:00 PM prior to the service starting and at other times at the home of Danny and Shelia Garner.

Hazel had worked in the hosiery industry and was a member of Siloam Church. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Thurman Alson Garner; her brothers, Larry Walker, Bobby Walker, Kenneth Walker, and David Walker; sisters, Linda Coble, Kathleen Garner, Pauline Coltrane, and Joann Bean.

She is survived by sons, Doug A. Garner, Danny L. Garner, and Billy E. Berrier; daughter, Marlene Hedrick; sister, Imogene Morris; grandchildren, Melissa Hicks, Eric Garner, Jason Garner, Brian Hedrick, Jennifer Klinger, Heidi Aldridge, Brittany Underwood, Brett Berrier, and Julie Lapsley; great-grandchildren, Julian Hicks, Ella Hicks, Aaron Walters, Bryson Garner, Alannah Hedrick, Brayden Aldridge, Mason Aldridge, Blakely Underwood, Reagan Underwood, Jonah Lapsley, and Sonny Lapsley.
