Haywood Nelson Thomas

Haywood Nelson Thomas, 88, of Belford Church Road, Jackson Springs, died Tuesday, Sept. 12, 2006, at FirstHealth Moore Regional Hospital, Pinehurst. Graveside service will be 11 a.m. Thursday at Pleasant Hill United Methodist Church Cemetery, with the Rev. Dana Brewer and the Rev. Donald Burns officiating. A native of Montgomery County, Mr. Thomas was born February 11, 1918, the son of B.W. Thomas and Elizabeth Thomas. He was a World War II U.S. Army veteran and a rural mail carrier. Surviving are wife, Margaret Overton Thomas of the home; sons, Nelson Thomas of Jackson Springs, Glen Thomas of Candor; brother, Robert Thomas of Newport News, Va.; one grandchild; one great-grandchild.
