Harold Covington, Sr. Mr. Harold Lee Covington, Sr., age 89 of Denton died Wednesday, May 9, 2007 at High Point Regional Hospital. Funeral Service will be 3:00 PM Saturday at Briggs Funeral Home Memorial Chapel with Rev. Jack Stratas officiating. Burial will follow in Mountain View Memorial Gardens with military rites. A native of Stanly County, Mr. Covington was born February 22, 1922, the son of Luther Clayton Covington and Cora Eunice Haire Covington. He was a fixer, last working at Bill’s Hosiery. He was of the Methodist faith and a member of Woodmen of the World. Mr. Covington was a veteran of the US Army, serving in the Korean Conflict. He is survived by his wife, Lorene Smith Covington; 5 sons, Steve Covington, Mark Covington, Danny Covington, Harold Covington, Jr. and Timmy Covington, all of Denton; 2 brothers, Clegg Covington and Ray Covington, both of Denton; 7 Grandchildren; 4 Great-grandchildren. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 PM Friday at Briggs Funeral Home in Denton and other times at the residence on Eastside Drive.
