CANDOR-Halbert Gaston (H.G.) McCallum, 72, formerly of Candor, died Saturday, February 27, 2016 at FirstHealth Moore Regional Hospital in Pinehurst. Memorial Service will be 2:00 PM Tuesday, March 1 at Briggs-Candor Funeral Home, with Rev. Laura Thompson officiating. Born in Montgomery County on March 18, 1943, he was the son of Halbert and Pansy Bryant McCallum. He was an owner/operator of retail clothing stores in the Candor area for many years. He is survived by 2 daughters, Melody Love of Biscoe and Tenita Harrington of Sanford; brother, Fairley McCallum of Myrtle Beach; 2 sisters, Martha Ann Campbell of California and Mary Agnes Starry of Michigan; 3 grandchildren; 1 great-grandchild. The family will receive friends following the service at Briggs-Candor Funeral Home Chapel.
