Gwen Maness

Mrs.Betty Gwendolyn (Gwen) Pickett Maness, age 72 of Bombay Road, Denton, NC died Monday, May 5 at Wake Forest Baptist Lexington Medical Center. A funeral service will be held at 4:00 PM Thursday, May 8 at First United Methodist Church conducted by Rev. Tammy Talbert. Burial will follow at Mountain View Memorial Gardens. The family will see friends from 6:00 to 8:00 PM Wednesday at Briggs Funeral Home and other times at the residence. Mrs. Maness was born March 30, 1942 in Forsyth County to Mack A. Pickett, Sr and Opal Elliott Pickett. She was a retired teacher assistant having worked at Denton Elementary School. She was a member of First United Methodist Church and a member and former Treasurer of the Herb Guild. She was preceded in death by her parents. She is survived by her husband, Dan Maness of the home; a daughter Dana M Jones and husband Tim of Trinity; a grandson Mason Jones; a brother M. Allen Pickett, Jr. of Lexington; a sister Emilie Parvin of Aurora, Col.; a nephew Brett Parvin; sister-in-laws, Betsy Robinson of Winston-Salem and Ann Hurley of Lancaster, SC. Memorials may be made to First United Methodist Church, PO Box 1792, Denton, NC 27239
