Guy Hughes

Mr. Guy Buster Hughes, age 89 formerly of Garner Road, Denton and Avery County, NC died Wednesday, July 3 at Forsyth Medical Center in Winston-Salem. A Graveside service with Military Honors will be held at 11:00 AM, Saturday, July 6 at Forest Hill Memorial Park in Lexington, conducted by Rev. Thomas Calhoun. Mr. Hughes was born August 3, 1923 in Wise County, Virginia to Raymond Hughes and Deppie Grindstaff Hughes. He was a retired building contractor and had attended Summerville Baptist Church. He was married to Lucy Shuler Hughes who preceded him in death. He was also preceded in death by sisters, Willie Nora Buchanan, Pauline Edwards of Newland, Chloe Hall of Greensboro and Vonceil McKinney of Marion, NC He is survived by special friends and caregivers, Stafford Hyman and husband Mike of Mocksville. Susan and Benny Atchley of Advance, NC. Grandchildren including Joseph R Hughes and great grandchildren, Eden Hughes and Eliah Hughes. He is also survived and loved by several nieces and nephews. The family will be at Davidson funeral Home in Lexington 9:30 to 10:30 AM Saturday.
