Guy Cook

Mr. J. Guy Cook, age 83 of Palmer Road, Lexington, NC died Tuesday, May 15 at Spring Arbor of Thomasville. A funeral service will be held at 3:00 PM Saturday, May 19 at Briggs Funeral Home Memorial Chapel in Denton, conducted by Rev. John Malek and Rev. Roy Queen. Burial will follow at Antioch Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will see friends from 1:00 to 2:30 PM Saturday at Briggs Funeral Home in Denton. Mr. Cook was born September 24, 1928 in Davidson County to George Gurley Cook and Bertie Smith Cook. He was a member of Antioch Baptist Church and a retired employee of Burlington Industries, Denton Plant. He was a veteran of the U S Army serving during the Korean Conflict. During his retirement years he enjoyed traveling, working with his hands and collecting antique tractors. He was preceded in death by his parents and sisters Zephyr Allen and Pallie Rose Davis and a brother Bobby Cook. He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Joan Hunt Cook of the home; daughters Guyla Kepley and husband Greg of Lexington, Lisa Stafford and husband Colen of Claremont; grandchildren Hayley Stafford, Holden Stafford and Geordon Kepley;a brother-in-law, Charles Davis of Elgin, SC and sister-in-law Dare Bailey of Lexington.
