Glenn Yates

R. Glenn Yates, age 95 of Jackson Creek Road, Denton, NC died Wednesday, September 5 at his residence. A funeral service will be held at 4:00 PM Saturday, September 8 at Briggs Funeral Home Memorial Chapel conducted by Rev. Claudie Harrison and Rev. Brian Cole. Burial will follow in the Pleasant Union Community Church Cemetery. The family will see friends from 6:00 to 8:00 PM Friday at Briggs Funeral Home and other times will be at the residence on Jackson Creek Road. Mr. Yates was born October 29, 1916 in Randolph County to J. Mavin Yates and Elizabeth Roxanne Garner Yates. He was a farmer and retired owner and operator of Yates Poultry Farm. He was of Methodist Faith. He was married to Ruth Trotter Yates who died August 27, 2009. He was also preceded in death by brothers, George Yates, Clay Yates, Wade Yates, John Yates and Ralph Yates. He is survived by a daughter, Hazel Staley and husband Burnice of Asheboro; sons Paul Yates and wife Betty Jo and Houston Yates and wife Janice all of Denton; Clyde Yates and wife Betty of Trinity and Allen Yates and wife Mattie of Lexington; grandchildren, Michael Yates, Debbie Small, Deffie Yates, Cynthia Staley, David Yates and Jeffrey Yates; great grandchildren, Curtis Yates, Laura Yates, Stephanie Phee, Tyler Yates, Trisha Small, Dana Varner, Isaac Yates and Luke Yates; 8 great great grandchildren.
