Gilbert Bocetti, Jr.

Durham-Gilbert Bocetti, Jr. Gilbert Bocetti, Jr., 78 of Emerald Pond Lane, Durham, died Monday, Nov. 24, 2008 at the North Carolina State Veterans Nursing Home in Fayetteville. A Graveside Service will be 12:00 noon on Friday, Nov. 28, 2008 at the Candor Cemetery, with Rev. Tim Epling officiating. A memorial service will be held at a later date. A native of Pennsylvania, Mr. Bocetti was born October 21, 1930 to Gilbert and Maria Testa Bocetti, immigrants from Italy and Sicily. Gil graduated from Washington and Lee University in 1952 and their law school in 1954. Gil was an outstanding football quarterback. He was inducted into the Athletic Hall of Fame at W & L in 1989 and again in 2000 when his entire football team was inducted. Gil worked for several years in the Title Insurance Industry, holding at times, positions of President and Vice President which included being on the Board of Directors. He was a Rotarian and a Paul Harris Fellow. He is survived by his wife, Billie Carr Bocetti of the home; 2 Step-Daughters, Lynda Senter of Durham and Lauri Carter and Husband Bob of Pinehurst; a brother, Tony Bocetti of Pittsburgh PA; a sister-in-law, Peggy Bocetti of Kinston NC; 4 Grandchildren, Brittany and Lindsay Senter of Durham and Lauren and Erinn Oakley of Pinehurst; nieces, Gina and Lisa Bocetti; nephews, Donnie and David Gajewski; David Buddy and Gilbert Bocetti; aunt and uncle, Vera and Dom Del Balso The family will receive friends from 11 to 11:45 prior to the service at Briggs-Candor Funeral Home in Candor and other times at the home of Lauri and Bob Carter in Pinehurst.
