Gerolene Street Gerolene Thomas Street, “Miss Gerri”, age 73, went home to be with her Lord & Savior Jesus Christ on Monday, Feb. 17, 2014 after a long courageous battle with Cancer. Funeral Service will be 3:00 PM Thursday, Feb. 20 at Briggs-Candor Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Stoney Locklear and Mr. Ken Metcalfe officiating. Burial will follow in the Pleasant Hill UMC Cemetery in Jackson Springs. Ms. Gerri was in the graduating class of 1959 at West End High School. She continued her education after that in nursing at Gaston College of Nursing in Gastonia. She was an excellent seamstress and her skill were exemplified when working at Pinebluff Products, Blue Bell and Whisper Knits. Her biggest talent, however, was cooking!!! If you never tasted her Banana Nut Bread or her Slow Cooker Enchilada, then you’ve missed a Blessing!! She touched many hearts and stomachs during her time here on earth. She was a selfless person who loved cooking or crafting, and it was always for others. Ms. Gerrie had a sweet, loving nature and always a smile to share. She witnessed to many people of her love of God and how Blessed she was with family. She was a devout Christian and faithfully trusted in the Lord! Her most precious time was spent loving and caring for her son & daughter and grandchildren. Oh, how she cherished them so!!! She always attended their functions, sporting events and other special occasions, and always encouraged them. She was so proud of all of them. Ms. Gerri worked in the halfway house at Pinehurst Resort and Country Club Golf Course No. 8 for 11 years. She also worked with Moore County Parks & Recreation for many years doing the clock and scorebook at the youth basketball games. She was known all over Moore County as “Maw-Maw from the gym”. She was preceded in death by her husband of 36 years, Howard Street in 1996; her parents, Ellis and Mary Thomas; a brother, Norman Thomas and a sister, Elizabeth Thomas Weathers. Ms. Gerri is survived by her son, Alan Street of Aberdeen; her daughter, Pamela Street Huggins of Aberdeen; 3 granddaughters, Erica Street of Aberdeen, Jenny Street and husband Jordan Schrader of Olympia, WA and Amber Allred of Aberdeen; two great-grandbabies, Connor and Cadence Lafferty; a brother, Larry Thomas of Jackson Springs. She had many in-laws whom she loved and cherished as well as many nieces and nephews. She is also survived by her beloved dog, Scamper. The family will receive friends from 1 to 2:30 PM prior to the service on Thursday at Briggs-Candor Funeral Home in Candor.
