Geraldine Simmons Blake, 89, of Mt. Gilead, died Tuesday, May 14, 2024 at FirstHealth Hospice and Palliative Care in West End. Services will be 2:00 PM Friday, May 17, 2024 at Briggs-Candor Funeral Home Chapel, with Rev. Mike Helms and Rev. Roger Paxton officiating. Burial will follow in Candor Cemetery.
Born November 2, 1934, in Montgomery County, she was the daughter of Junnie and Virginia Parrish Simmons. She was a retired school teacher with Montgomery County Schools and owner/operator of Blakes Store in Pekin. Mrs. Blake was a member of Little River UMC and a graduate of Meredith College. She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Daniel “Jake” Blake in 2005, her sister, Isabel Cranford, and her brother, Jeff Simmons.
Geraldine is survived by her daughter, Jan Hennessee (Blair) of Statesville and son, Robert "Danny" Blake, III (Gina) of Mt. Gilead; 5 grandchildren, Taylor Blake, Danielle Rushing, Sabrina Morgan, Sally Hennessee, and Harris Hennessee; 5 Great-grandchildren.
The family will receive friends from 12:30 – 2:00 PM Friday prior to the service at Briggs-Candor Funeral Home.
