Gerald Steed

Mr. Gerald Reed Steed, 71, formerly of Greenbrier Drive, Denton passed away on Saturday, March 9, 2019 at High Point Regional Hospital.

A funeral service will be held 3:00 pm Wednesday, March 13 at Briggs Funeral Home Memorial Chapel conducted by Rev. Johnny Daniel. Interment with military honors will follow at the Denton Town Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 2:00 to 3:00 pm prior to the service.

Gerald was born in Davidson County on March 9, 1948 to the late Jennings Dwight Steed and Edith Cranford Steed. He was a member of First United Methodist Church. Mr. Steed was a Veteran of The United States Army serving in the Vietnam War. He was a retired truckdriver for Klopman Mills. Later from 1995 to 2002 Gerald wrote articles for The Denton Record and then The Denton Orator.

He is survived by his wife of over 50 years Vonnie Buie Steed of the home; daughter, Jana Larette Steed of High Point; brother, J. Dwight Steed, Jr. of High Point.

In lieu of flowers memorials should be made to the donor’s choice.
