George A. Yates

Denton, NC- George Yates Mr. George Albert Yates, age 92 of Bescher Chapel Road, Denton, NC died Wednesday, November 7 at Randolph Hospital in Asheboro. A funeral service will be held at 2:00 PM Saturday, November 10 at Pleasant Union Community Church conducted by Rev. Larry McIntyre and Rev. Ray Swaney. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Mr. Yates was born December 1, 1914 in Guilford County to J. Mavin Yates and Elizabeth Roxanne Garner Yates. He was a graduate of Farmer High School and a retired employee of Stedman Manufacturing Company. He was a member of Pleasant Union Community Church and an avid Hunter. Mr. Yates is survived by his wife, Marinda Harris Yates of Mountain Vista Health Park and by sons, James Yates of Charlotte and Roy Yates of Denton, a daughter Nell Scott of Hillsville, Va. and brothers, Glenn Yates of Denton and Wade Yates of Asheboro. There are 6 grandchildren, 10 great grandchildren and 1 great great grandchild. The family will see friends from 6:00 to 8:00 PM Friday at Briggs Funeral Home in Denton and other times will be at the residence of the son, Roy Yates, 2860 Bescher Chapel Road, Denton, NC
