George F. Stahl, Jr., 86, of Seven Lakes, N.C., died peacefully at First Health Moore Regional Hospital on Friday, January 15, 2016 after a brief illness. He was surrounded by family. George was a loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, uncle, and friend. He shared more than 60 years of his journey with his wife and best friend, Ruth Lees Stahl. George was a man of many talents and interests. He enjoyed golf, fishing, bocce, cooking, camping, entertaining, playing games, and spending time with his family and friends. From winning the “Family Swim Trophy” many times in Mountain Lakes, N.J., to decorating his boat for the Annual Fourth of July Boat Parade on Lake Sequoia, George enjoyed spending time on the water. He will be remembered for his kindness, humor, and generosity – and also for his homemade pickles, scones, rye bread, turkey soup, pate and the blueberry pancakes he made during memorable camping trips. He was so proud of his 4 children and rarely missed any of their games while they were growing up – and there were many. He enjoyed his grandchildren and had great hope for the future of their children. George lived a full life and was loved and will be missed by all who knew him. No formal service is planned at this time, but friends and family are encouraged to keep sharing memories and telling his stories for generations to come. Briggs-Candor Funeral Home is assisting the Stahl family with the arrangements.
