Geneva Haywood Swaringen

Thelma Geneva Haywood Swaringen, 86, formerly of Farmer Rd., Denton, NC passed away on Sunday, January 14, 2024, at Mountain Vista Health Park.

A funeral service will be held 11:00 AM Wednesday, Jan. 17, at First Baptist Church with Rev. Shane Smith and Rev. Thomas Frizzell officiating. Interment will follow at Mountain View Memorial Gardens.

Geneva was born April 13, 1937, in Stanly County to Robert Haywood and Thelma Haywood Haywood. She was a graduate of Troy High School, Class of 1955, a member of First Baptist Church in Denton, and had worked as a seamstress. In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her husband, Jeff Swaringen.

Left to cherish her memory are her daughters, Brenda Dorsett (Raeford) of Denton and Tammy Reid of Wallburg; sister, Judy Peele of SC; 2 grandchildren, Kristi Burnette (Morris) and Jonathon Reid (Kristina); 6 great-grandchildren, Kaleb, Aubree, McKenzie, Laci Faye, Cooper, and Kylan; and special extend members of the family, Guy and Donna Gooch.

The family will receive friends on Tuesday from 6:00 to 8:00 PM at Briggs Funeral Home in Denton and other times at the home of Raeford and Brenda Dorsett on E. Salisbury St.
