Gene Harris

        Mr. David Eugene (Gene) Harris, age 85 of Spicewood Road, Eagle Springs, NC died Friday, February 1 at Moses Cone Hospital in Greensboro.   A funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM Monday, February 4 at Candor United Methodist Church.  Burial will follow at Candor Cemetery.   The family will see friends at the residence from 2:00 until 4:00 PM Sunday.   Mr. Harris was born January 26, 1934 in Moore County to Edwin Ledbetter Harris and Stella Ray Harris.  He was a self employed Farmer  He was preceded in death by brothers, Ledbetter Harris, Bobby Harris and Johnny Harris and by sisters, Agnes Tomlinson, Ruby McKenzie, Josephine Reid, Edna Kearns and Margaret Chappell.   He is survived by his wife Betty Jean Elam Harris of the Home, sons, David Eugene Harris, Jr. and wife Laura of Candor, John Mack Harris and wife Evelyn Harris of Morehead City, and Charles Patrick (Pat) Harris  and wife Donna of Eagle Springs; brother  William P (Bill) Harris and wife Anne of High Point; sisters Rebecca (Becky) Williams of Candor and Ann Batten and husband Gary of Eagle Springs; grandchildren, Katherine, Elizabeth, Jordan, Callie, John Michael, Katie, Will and Abril; 4 great grandchildren.   Memorials may be made to Candor United Methodist Church, PO Box 456, Candor, NC 27229
