Gary Strickland

Mr. Gary Glenwood Strickland, age 74, died on Wednesday, January 29, 2020 at his residence on Summerville Church Road in Denton. A funeral service will be 2:00 p.m. Saturday, February 1st at Briggs Funeral Home Memorial Chapel with Rev. Billy Dunnegan officiating.  Interment will follow in Mountain View Memorial Gardens. Mr. Strickland was born on July 1, 1945 in Horry County, SC to Jefferson “Jeff” Davis Strickland and Charity Derotha Hayes Strickland.  He was the owner/operator of Denton Tractor. He was a licensed contractor that helped build the first two ships that had computers and was a farmer among many other ventures.  He was preceded in death by a son, Timothy “Tim” Strickland in 2013, two brothers, Elbert Strickland and Douglas Lamar Hayes and a sister Julia Haynie. Mr. Strickland is survived by his wife, Beulah Moore Strickland of the home; a son, Tracy Strickland of Denton; a brother, Roland Strickland of Denton; a sister, Ethel Lynn Nobles of Lexington; grandchildren, Hatti, Jordan and Dawson; great-grandchildren, Cameron, Lauren, Mason, Logan and Ayden.   Family will receive friends prior to the service from 12:45 to 1:45 pm on Saturday.   Online condolences may be made at www.briggsfuneralhome.com
