Garland Baum

Mr. Garland Baum age 84, of Canaan Church Rd. Denton passed away, Tuesday, April 21, 2015 at Hinkle Hospice House. A funeral service will be held 2:00 PM Thursday at Piney Grove United Methodist Church conducted by Rev. Neil Crowell. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. Mr. Baum was born May 5, 1930 in Pasquotank County to Thomas E. Baum and Ruth Elliott Baum. Garland was a member of Piney Grove United Methodist Church and worked as a Parts Manager for Chevrolet. In addition to his parents Garland was preceded in death by a son, Barry Baum on April 4, 2008 and a brother, Edward E. Baum. Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Marie Hunt Baum of the home; sons, Michael Baum (Kathy) of Denton and Kelly Baum of Lexington; daughter-in-law, Joy Baum of Denton; grandchildren, Laura Vazquez (Tony), Amanda Baum, and Jessica Baum (Ken Smith); great-grandchildren, Lexi Baum and Piper Vazquez. The family will receive friends on Wednesday from 6:00 to 8:00 PM at Briggs Funeral Home in Denton and other times at the residence on Canaan Church Rd.
