Gail Moore Lanier, age 72, of the New Hope Community, passed away peacefully on Monday, February 9, 2026, at Atrium Health Baptist Medical Center in Winston Salem. She was born on May 2, 1953, in Davidson County, North Carolina, to the late Dow Moore and Kate Davis Moore.
Gail had a fulfilling career in retail sales, where she touched the lives of many through her friendly demeanor and unwavering commitment to customer service. Beyond her professional life, Gail had a passion for gardening, reading, and enjoying the beauty of nature, particularly through feeding and watching birds. These interests were a reflection of her nurturing spirit and her appreciation for life's simple pleasures.
Above all, Gail cherished the time spent with her family and held strong to her faith. The family finds great comfort knowing that she has been reunited with her husband, Douglas "Bucky" Lanier, who preceded her in death after 46 years of marriage. Gail's love and devotion were evident in the close-knit relationships she built with her daughters, Kim Lanier Hutchins and her husband Ryan and Jenna Lanier Keasler and her husband David, as well as her cherished sister, Rita Diehl, and her husband, Rick.
Gail's legacy lives on through her grandchildren: Hannah Davidson and her husband, Zach; Asher Hutchins; Xander Hutchins; Kate Hutchins; Harper Richmond; Natalie Keasler; and Elizabeth Keasler. Additionally, her great-grandchildren, Parker Jo, Elsie, and Laramie, will carry forward her spirit and love.
A Celebration of Life will be held at 4:00 PM on Saturday, February 21, 2026, at Gravel Hill Baptist Church with Dr. Ron Chaney and Pastor Clint Kearns officiating. Immediately following the service the family will be in the fellowship hall where friends and family are invited to come together to honor and remember Gail’s life and the profound impact she had on those around her.
Gail Moore Lanier will be deeply missed by all who knew her, and her memory will forever remain in the hearts of her family and friends. Memorials can be made in memory of Gail to the donor's choice.
