Fred Martin Steed

Fred Martin Steed, 66, of Raeford, NC passed away on Thursday, May 16, 2024 at his residence.

A funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM Saturday, May 18, at Tabernacle Baptist Church with Rev. Michael Free officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.

Mr. Steed was born on April 30, 1958, in Roanoke Rapids, NC the son of Harold Thomas Steed and Doris Connell Steed. He had worked as a carpenter and was a member of Tabernacle Baptist Church where he had helped build the Living Water Christian Camp. In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by a sister, Brenda Grant.

He is survived by sons, Adam Steed (Kathleen) of Biscoe, Fred Steed, Jr. of Texas, Jimmy Calhoun (Kyle) of VA, Daniel Parks (Tonya) of Seven Lakes; daughter, Tammy VanDerveer (David) of Biscoe; siblings, Betty Chavis of Aberdeen, Harold Steed, Jr. of Aberdeen, and Patricia Gibson of Carthage; 14 Grandchildren, Lydia VanDerveer, Madison Mabe, Jacob Steed, Logan Steed, Ava Steed, Trenton Parks, Tori Parks, Trey VanDerveer, Pierce VanDerveer, Apollo Steed, Joseph Calhoun, Piper Calhoun, Hattie Jane Calhoun, and Greta Ruth Calhoun.

The family will receive friends on Saturday from 10:00 AM until 11:00 AM at Tabernacle Baptist Church prior to the service.
