Frank Smith Jr. DENTON — Mr. Frank Smith Jr., 82, of Greenbrier Drive, Denton, died Sunday, March 24, at Greensboro Place in Greensboro. A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, March 28, at Macedonia United Methodist Church in Eldorado, with the Rev. Ed Carter and the Rev. Jack Luther officiating. Burial will follow in the Denton Town Cemetery. Mr. Smith was born July 6, 1924, in Guilford County to Frank Smith Sr. and Irene Strader Smith. He was a retired residential home building contractor and also had been employed with Denton Lumber Co. He attended Macedonia United Methodist Church and was a member of Denton Lodge 404 AF & AM. He was a Navy veteran of WWII. He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Garland Smith, He is survived by his wife, Wanona Futrell Smith of the home; a son, Frankie Smith III and his wife, Vickie, of Denton; a grandson, Jason Smith and his wife, LeAnn, of Denton. He is also survived by brothers, Archie Smith and Richard Smith and wife, Peggy, of Denton and Roger Smith and wife, Doris, of Asheboro; by sisters, Peggy Briles and husband, J.B., of Archdale and Deloris Briles and husband, Dwain, of Asheboro; brothers-in-law, Gilbert Futrell and wife, Nancy, and Dale Futrell and wife, Glenda, all of Denton. The family will see friends from 6-8 p.m. Tuesday at Briggs Funeral Home in Denton and other times at the residence on Greenbrier Drive.
