: Mrs. Frances Gourley Shuskey, age 72 of Jones St., Denton died Tuesday, April 18, 2006 while on a trip to California with her husband. Mrs. Shuskey was born November 11, 1933 in Guilford County to Clarence Dewey Gourley and Eula Jordan Gourley. Mrs. Shuskey worked as a secretary for the Davidson County Sheriff’s Office for 19 and ½ years. After her retirement from the Sheriff’s office she worked part-time as a secretary for Briggs Funeral Home for 9 years retiring March 17, 2006. She was a member of Central United Methodist Church and was president of the United Methodist Women of the Church. She had been given a Lifetime Achievement Award by the United Methodist Women. She and her husband made several trips to Mexico with a building team from the United Methodist Conference. She had served as a leader in Boy & Girl Scouting. She was active in politics and served as a Judge with the Davidson County Board of Elections. Shie is survived by her husband, Dane Shuskey of the home sons, Gene Shuskey and wife Cathy, and Steve Shuskey and wife Janice all of Denton; Chris Shuskey and wife Kim of Mocksville.Daughters,Sandy Hoover and husband Jeff of Asheboro and Donna Carrick and husband Tommy of Denton. Step-mother Juanita Gourley of High Point, brother Reuben Gourley of Charlotte and sister Helen Wyrick of Cerriots, Calif. 9 grandchildren, 1 step-grandchild and 3 great grandchildren. A funeral service will be held at 3:00 PM Sunday at Central United Methodist Church conducted by Rev. Benny Clodfelter and Rev. Joe Collins. Burial will follow in the Tom's Creek Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery.
