Mrs. Eva Myers Haltom, age 90, of The Forest at Duke in Durham, formerly of Denton died Tuesday, April 7 in Durham. Funeral service will be held 3:00 pm Friday, April 10 at First United Methodist Church with Revs. William Foust and Thomas L. Griffis officiating. Private burial will follow the service. Mrs. Haltom was born June 19, 1918 in Davidson County to Allison Lee and Suzanne Conrad Myers. She retired from Denton Elementary School in 1984 after more than 40 years as a first, second and third grade teacher. She received her teaching diploma from Appalachian State University and a bachelor’s degree from High Point University. She was an active member of First United Methodist Church and volunteer for many organizations in Davidson County. Mrs. Haltom was preceded in death by her husband, E. Forrest Haltom in 1984. She is survived by her daughter Allison Haltom McClay of Durham, one sister, Rose Myers Dietz of Hickory and two grandchildren. The family will receive friends at a reception following the service.
