Eugene Norman Guffey

Eugene Norman Guffey, 89, of Oak St., Troy, died Thursday morning at his residence. Funeral Service will be 2:00 PM Saturday, February 25, 2017 at First Baptist Church in Troy, with Rev. Ed Lowder officiating. Burial will follow in Southside Cemetery with military rites. Born in Rutherford County on May 15, 1927, he was the son of John Jasper and Elsie Elizabeth Edwards Guffey. For many years, he was the owner of the Nationwide Insurance Agency in Troy and a veteran of the US Army. He is survived by his wife, Betty Ballard Guffey of the home; 3 sons, Steven E. Guffey of Morgantown, WV, Randy M. Guffey of Efland, NC, and Barry N. Guffey of Knightdale, NC; 4 daughters, Linda G. Freeman of Marshall, NC, Patricia G. Wiggins of Concord, Paula G. Quate of Wilmington, and Judith G. Harden of Troy; sister, Mildred G. Morrow of Forest City, NC; 16 Grandchildren; 15 Great-grandchildren; 1 Great-great-grandchild. The family will receive friends from 1-2 PM prior to the service at First Baptist Church in Troy. Briggs Funeral Home of Troy is in charge of arrangements.
