Etta Johnson Hill

September 18, 1921 — April 5, 2010

Mrs. Etta Johnson Hill, age 88, of Piedmont School Road, Denton went home to be with her Lord on Monday, April 5 at Hinkle Hospice House in Lexington. A celebration of life service for Mrs. Hill will be 4:00 pm Thursday, April 8 at Lineberry United Methodist Church with Rev. Kelly Creekmur and Rev. Randy Lucas officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Mrs .Hill was born September 18, 1921 in Chatham County to Allen Bingham Johnson and Ola Estelle Brown Johnson. She was a homemaker and a member of Lineberry United Methodist Church. She was a former owner of the Park-In Grill and made pies for Denton area restaurants. She was a foster parent for over 20 children. Her hobby was raising orchids. Mrs. Hill was preceded in death by her husband of 60 years, Walter Fayne Hill on May 13, 2003 and by brothers, Winfred Johnson, Sabriet Johnson, Obie Johnson and Vance Johnson and sisters, Margie Hogan and Estelle Tinsley. Mrs. Hill is survived by daughters, Faye Hill Vestal, Sandra Hill Hopkins and husband Wesley, Patricia Hill Miller and husband Jack, and Mary Sue Hill and husband, Tommy Montgomery, all of Denton and foster daughter, Carolyn Hill of Lexington. She is also survived by grandchildren Todd Doby, Terry Doby, Julie Hopkins Parrish, Tenna Hopkins Cohen, Victoria Hopkins, Wesley Young Hopkins, Jr., Kimberly Hill, Aimee Hill and Christopher Hill and great-grandchildren, Bradley, Koty, Seth, Ashley, Courtney, Chelsee, Hannah, Haleigh and McKenzie and great-great grandchild, Brewer. She also leaves behind her beloved dog Sadie. The family will receive friends from 2:00 to 3:30 pm Thursday, prior to the service, at the church and at other times at the residence on Piedmont School Road.
