Ether States Bennett

Ether States Bennett, 96, of 2071 Windblow Road, Jackson Springs, died Monday, January 11, 2010 at Autumn Care of Biscoe. Mr. Bennett was born March 24, 1913 in Montgomery County, a son of the late Jasper C. and Daisy S. Bennett. He had served his country in the US Army during World War II, was a carpenter and a Beekeeper. He was a lifelong member of Marcus United Methodist Church where he had served as Sunday School superintendant and teacher, past president of the United Methodist Men, and an active lay person and lay leader. His wife, Myrtle L. Bennett and a son Charles Bennett preceded him in death. Surviving are his son, Steve Bennett of Raleigh; his daughters, Joan Bennett of Jackson Springs and Nancy Kelly of Rockingham; 9 grandchildren; and 6 great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 PM Thursday at Marcus United Methodist Church with Revs. Myron and Barbara Dice officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. The family will see friends from 6:00 – 8:00 PM Wednesday at Briggs-Candor Funeral Home and at other times at the home on Windblow Road.
