Ernest Doby

Ernest Lee Doby, 82 of Mose Glover Road, Denton died Saturday September 8, 2007 at Wake Forest University Medical Center in Winston-Salem. Mr. Doby was born January 5, 1925 in Davidson County to James Pearlie Doby and Dora Esther Smith Doby, he was of the Baptist faith and was a farmer and saw mill operator. He was preceded in death by his wife Odena Sanders Doby, a daughter Doris Snead, a brother Earlie Doby, and sisters Nina Henley and Madgeline Cornelious. Mr. Doby is survived by a son Ernest Lee Doby and wife Rhonda of Denton and Oak Island; daughters Janet Sloan of Winston-Salem and Linda Hunter of Denton; a sister Carrie Burnette of Denton, six grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. The funeral service will be held at 11:00 am Tuesday, September 11, 2007 in the Briggs Funeral Home Memorial Chapel. Rev. Claudie Harrison and Rev. Ed Carter will conduct the service. Burial will follow at Eleazer United Methodist Church. The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 PM Monday at the funeral home, and at other times at 1285 Chapel Hill Church Road.
