Mrs. Elsie Lou Carroll Frank, age 81, of Denton died Wednesday, May 19 at Hinkle Hospice House following a lengthy illness. Funeral service for Mrs. Frank will be 10:00 am Saturday, May 22 at First United Methodist Church with Rev. Bill Foust officiating. Burial will follow in Mountain View Memorial Gardens Cemetery. Mrs. Frank was born March 12, 1929 in Davidson County to John Brice and Vera Lanier Carroll. She was a member of First United Methodist Church where she had been a member of the choir and Women’s Methodist Guild. She retired from Denton Elementary School where she had worked as a teacher’s assistant. She was a charter member of the Denton Ladies Civitan Club, receiving the Humanitarian of the Year award in 1998. She volunteered for the South Davidson Resource Center, the American Red Cross Blood Drive, the Davidson County Special Olympics and Mountain Vista Health Park bingo. She is survived by her husband, Paul Frank of the home, two sons, John W. Frank and Kirby Frank, both of Denton, one daughter, Paulette Leonard of Lexington, two brothers, Bill Carroll of Dudley and John Joe Carroll of Pleasant Garden, one sister, Judy Loflin of Denton, five grandchildren and one great-grandchild. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 pm Friday at Briggs Funeral Home in Denton and other times at the residence on Yates Road.
