Ellis Edgar Greene, surrounded by his family, went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday evening, September 12, 2017. He was born in Montgomery county to Minnie Richardson and Atlas Greene. Ellis was one of nine children raised on Greene Acres in Candor. He lived on the farm on which he was raised and loved. This is where he was taught the value of a hard day’s work, respect for the land, and how to provide for his family. Through the years, Ellis worked at many things but his greatest love, after his family and granddaughter, was driving a tractor, bailing hay, and raising his cows and garden. He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers, Arlie; Manley Greene; sisters, Glennie Greene Dunn; Sadie Greene Bowles; and Connie Greene Kennedy. He is survived by his treasured wife of 57 years, Marion Paul Greene of the home; sons Phillip Greene of Candor; Billy Joe (Chase) Greene of Wagram; the apple of his eye, his granddaughter, Caitlin “Caiti” Greene of the home; sister Lela Thompson of Biscoe; brothers A.C. Greene of Candor; Clayton Greene of Candor, many nieces, nephews, and extended family of Morgan, Haywood, Simmons.
