Martha Ella Prevatt Terry, 72, of Elder St., Rockingham died Thursday, February 12, 2009 at FirstHealth Moore Regional Hospital. Funeral services will be held 11:00 AM Saturday at Briggs-Candor Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Wayne Richardson officiating. Interment will follow at West End Cemetery. Mrs. Terry was born April 12, 1936 in Richmond County to Kenneth Roseville Pankey and Nannie Odessa Blakely Pankey. She was a member of Pleasant Hill Baptist Church and a homemaker. Preceded in death by her husband Samuel T. Prevatt and by a son; Jerry Wayne Prevatt, and by a sister; Mary Roberts. She is survived by, husband; Leon Leonard Terry of Rockingham, sons; Kenneth Prevatt of Bracey, VA., Randy Prevatt of Shallotte, daughter; Cindy Prevatt Smoley of St. Cloud, Minn., Step sons; David Prevatt of CA., Stephen Prevatt of Greensboro, Michael Prevatt of Climax, and Terry Prevatt of Tenn., step daughter; Linda Prevatt of Tenn., sisters; Sadie Richardson of Rockingham, Ruth Currie of Ellerbe, Eva Hill of Suffolk, VA., Carol Richardson of Rockingham, and Betty Layton of Orlando, FL., and 14 grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren. The family will see friends from 6:00 to 8:00 PM Friday at Briggs-Candor Funeral Home and other times at the residence on Elder St. in Rockingham.
