Eleanor Alice Blakely

Eleanor Alice Rushing Blakely, 85, of Jackson Springs, died Monday, August 28, 2006 at her home. Mrs. Blakely was born in Union County, NC on September 29, 1920, the daughter of James Shepherd and Dora Austin Rushing. She was a devoted wife, loving mother, and an adored grandmother and great-grandmother. She touched the lives of many through her card ministry and hospitality. The funeral will be 3 PM Wednesday at the Eagle Springs Baptist Church with the Revs. Charles Hinson and Dr. Zeb Moss officiating. Burial will follow in the Taylor Memorial Baptist Church Cemetery in Jackson Springs. Mrs. Blakely is survived by three sons, Jimmy Blakely and wife Helen of Charlotte, Donald Blakely and wife Brenda of West End, and Ray Blakely of Charlotte; a brother, Lumus Rushing of Rockingham; a sister, Elmer McLean of Rockingham; five grandchildren, Rhonda McDaniel, Tammy Bagley, Bruce Blakely, Scott Blakely and Dawn McKenzie; six great-grandchildren, Nicole Cress, Johnny, Dillon and Nathan McKenzie, Lauryn Blakely and Amber Blakely. The family will receive friends following the service at Taylor Memorial Baptist Church in the fellowship hall.
