Elcoe Boroughs

F. Elcoe Boroughs, age 92 of Hotel Street, Jackson Springs, NC died Wednesday, June 27 at his residence. Funeral Service will be Saturday, June 30, 2007 at 1:00 PM at the Jackson Springs Presbyterian Church, with the Rev. Suzanne Simpson officiating. Burial will follow in the Jackson Springs Cemetery. A native of Randolph County, Mr. Boroughs was born April 1, 1915, the son of George and Conie Trogden Boroughs. A member of Jackson Springs Presbyterian Church, he served as a deacon, an elder and a Sunday School Superintendent. Mr. Boroughs was a charter member of the Jackson Springs Community Club and retired from the J.P. Stevens company after 27 years. He was preceded in death by his wife, Beatrice Lisk Boroughs in 1997, 3 brothers, Bryan, Hugh and Philip Boroughs, 2 sisters, Beatrice and Jessie Boroughs. He is survived by a daughter, Brenda Boroughs of Jackson Springs; 4 sons, Hubert Boroughs of the home, Leon Boroughs of Carthage, Ray Boroughs and Tommy Boroughs, both of Jackson Springs; 3 sisters, Leta Lauritsch of Ellerbe, Opal Boroughs of California and Marie Monroe of Columbia SC; 4 brothers, Woodrow Boroughs of Southern Pines, Duke Boroughs of Carthage, Talmadge Boroughs and Otis Boroughs, both of Jackson Springs; 7 Grandchildren; 1 Great-grandchild. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 PM Friday at Briggs-Candor Funeral Home in Candor and other times at the home on Hotel Street, Jackson Springs.
